Bill Dean Unveils ‘Terra Veritatis’ Estate

Boasting a combined purchase and renovation price tag in excess of $40 million, William H. Dean (‘Billy’ to his close friends)’s Terra Veritatis estate represents the most extensive revitalization of a single family property in Miami Beach history.

Bill Dean is known for throwing lively parties at his Georgetown Mansion in Washington, including a Fourth of July bash featuring bikini-clad female bartenders. Those affairs may end up seeming tame compared with what the 48-year-old bachelor and engineering executive has in mind for his newly renovated estate in Miami Beach, Fla.

They call it “Terra Veritatis”. You’ll call it a marvel of a mansion makeover. The 16-bedroom Miami Beach waterfront mansion on 2.5 acres was first owned by the founder of Kmart.

With cheap design flair and builders and architects working at a discount, the Miami Rescue Mission readies a 78-bed, dorm-like expansion for its homeless men’s program in gentrifying Wynwood.

The Capponi Construction Group has partnered with the Miami Rescue Mission to expand the homeless shelter, which has seen an increase in needy residents facing economic woes.

American veterans from World War II to the present were honored during a fundraiser for The Friends of Fisher House at Taboo Restaurant in Palm Beach. The event, which drew over 400 people, raised over $10,000 for the West Palm Beach Fisher House.

In a move that confirms the renewed vitality of real estate and construction in Florida’s Palm Beach County, Michael Capponi, Chairman of Capponi Construction Group, LLC, and Vanessa Grout, CEO of luxury real estate firm Douglas Elliman, Florida Brokerage, marked the grand opening of a shared office at 444 E. Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton, Florida.

Chairman of Capponi Construction Group and Haute 100 lister Michael Capponi recently announced his company’s expansion into the Palm Beach market; a move that was made possible by a new partnership formed with Vanessa Grout, CEO of real estate firm Douglas Elliman.

A mile up the beach on Palmetto Park Road, more big players have come to town. On July 26, the Capponi Group, a Miami-based construction and development company, and Douglas Elliman, the largest residential real estate operation in New York, held a joint ribbon-cutting at their new Boca Raton offices. Handling the scissors were Michael Capponi and Elliman’s Florida boss, Vanessa Grout.

Developer and nightclub impresario Michael Capponi has sold his home on Sunset Island for 5.17 million, the highest price point on the island since 2007. Capponi bought the home in 2005 for 2.3 million, and oversaw a complete reconstruction two years later by his Capponi Construction Group. The home, which is located at 1620 W 21 Street, has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and 6,000 square feet of interior space. It was listed by Dina Goldentayer and Sladja Stantic of the DS Team in March for 5.15 million.
